ABOUT US

South Tonka Chapter

Our chapter has been around for decades!  While most of our members reside in the South Tonka communities, anyone with an interest in the area is welcome to join.  Membership in any League chapter offers great opportunities to get involved in issues that are important to YOU at the local, regional, state, and national levels.

Much of our work is centered on protecting the right to vote for all citizens and the legitimacy of elections, but we are much more than that. Throughout our chapter's history, we have helped our communities institute recycling programs, and have formally endorsed the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District and a system of Intergovenmental Cooperation among our adjoining municipalities.  Our members have initiated studies on local drinking water, participated in revising our national agriculture policy, prepared a briefing paper on bees, and  and have joined forces with other leagues to examine topics such as senior housing, redevelopment, and water quality.

This isn't your mother's League of Women Voters anymore!  While we proudly walk in the footsteps of our suffragist foremothers, we  welcome men and women of all backgrounds to work together to make our corner of the world a more just and healthy place to live. Please consider joining us today!
